Story

Our story

Palanca Bridge is a U.S. Delaware C-Corp built to make African market entry investable for American capital, development-finance institutions, and U.S. Government partners. We pair U.S. governance standards with the realities of operating on the ground.

The opportunity across Africa is real; the risk is in the execution. We began in Angola — our anchor market — and extend across the continent through vetted, licensed local partners, engagement by engagement.

Values and mission

Values

Compliance is the operating system, not an add-on.

Participation must be profitable, and beyond reproach. Every engagement is FCPA, KYC, AML, and sanctions-screening aligned, contracted under U.S. law.

Mission

To reduce risk, enable responsible investment, and support Africa’s economic emergence through compliant, durable partnerships.

Governance

Governance framework

Palanca Bridge Corp is governed under U.S. law as a Delaware C-Corp. The firm has a formal Chief Compliance Officer, Managing Partner Tom Kayo, ACCPA-designated, with ultimate authority over engagement acceptance, red-flag escalation, and walk-away decisions. The CCO reports to the Palanca Bridge Corp board.

Governance in a two-principal firm rests on structural counterweights, not discretion. Above-threshold declinations, first-in-firm archetypes, and any exception to a published pricing rule carry a mandatory second review. Compliance Clearance Letters carry a countersignature protocol so no signature product depends on a single principal. Retained external counsel and a fractional CFO participate in a standing quarterly external-governance meeting.

Policy

Contributor policy

Palanca Bridge names an individual as a principal, advisor, or contributor on this site only when: (a) the individual has provided written consent; (b) the CCO has reviewed the appointment; and (c) any relevant disclosure, including current or former public office is published in the same place as the individual’s bio. Contributors who hold or have held public office serve in a strictly personal, non-operational advisory capacity and provide no non-public information.

Principle

Capability, not presence

Palanca Bridge names a market as a capability, not a claim of physical presence, a local office, or an existing engagement. We name an individual local partner only when the relationship is current, contracted, and consented. Everything else is a capability we deliver — engagement by engagement.
